Budget tips for 2012

Hey folks what do you think about the following budget tips and can you add any?

2/ Start paying off your credit cards by paying off the one with highest interest rate first.

3/ Direct debt into a savings account each payday - doesn't have to be a large amount anything is better than nothing.

4/Pay extra off your mortgage especially when interest rates are low.

5/ Make sure you are getting the best deal from your credit provider.
